GIRLS Top 20 Preview: #7 Eden Prairie

Reminder: our list is based off of the laxnumbers ranking list…here. Don’t hate the journalists…hate the algorithm or your shooting percentage.

Continuing on our re-evaluation of which is crazier: Section 2 or Section 3…we offer another Section 2 squad.

What They Were

13-3, 78.39 Lax Number Rating against a 74.26 strength of schedule.

#1 seed in Section 2. They lost to #2 Minnetonka 16-13 in section finals.

What They Lost

(6) 2024s graduated.

Avery Wallace - M: 56g/12a/68 points, 31 GB/11 FT/87 DC

Josie Wallace - M: 51g/13a/64 points, 28 GB/26 FT/68 DC

Kaci Kotschevar - A: 48g/28a/76 points, 36 GB/26 FT

Lauren Rice - M: 23g/5a/28 points, 41 GB/24 FT/62 DC

If you’re playing along at home…220 out of the team 269 DC are no longer students at Eden Prairie High School. That’s a cool 81.8%.

Also…4 out of the 5 top scorers are gone. 80.4%.

In the business, we call that an “opportunity” to pick up some stats.

2026 Sara David - A: 24g/18a/42 points, 36 GB/8 FT

2027 Kelsey Pottinger - M: 17g/14a/31 points, 31 GB/12 FT

Our Take

To say that EP lost significant offense doesn’t do those seniors justice. Obviously, where offense is going to come from is going to be a concern.

2025 Maggie Pearson is listed as a middie, but really played DM in the games we watched and she’ll pick up some of that offensive slack (she won’t have much of a choice).

David and Pottinger are underclassman that found ways to contribute significantly, amidst the production of that 2024 class - so will be able to suck up a lot of that production.

So, thats three players that we can ID off the bat as likely candidates…great start, but playing against the big dogs, you need a lot more options, because they’ll be pressuring and throwing doubles at those few, daring the more inexperienced players to beat them.

They, like most of these top 10-15 ish teams have a stiff schedule…facts are that these teams in the SSC, Lake and Metro West Conferences all play each other a lot, so its a bit redundent. Its also not too much of a stretch to say that those conferences have dominated girls lax in MN.

What does this mean for EP…they have a tough path out of Section 3. Our new fav team (Orono) is just begging to play these squads and section champs Minnetonka is going to be a factor. We envision a battle between EP and Chanhassen to battle it out for the 3 seed.
