Let’s go!
Teams In Section, 2024 Section Seed & 2024 Record
9 Teams Listed in Section 3. Listed in seeding they finished from the MSHSL website.
Park (13-2)
East Ridge (11-4)
Cretin-Derham Hall (11-7)
Simley (7-7)
Woodbury (8-8)
XXXXXXXX
Visitation (5-10)
Hastings (6-6)
St. Paul/Two Rivers (3-12)
St. Paul Academy (1-12)
Well…St. Croix Prep (10-4). According to the MSHSL and their website, SCP aren’t part of Section 3 anymore. Or any section. Or even have lacrosse listed on their page on the MSHSL website.
However, we did a little bit of actual journalism and have been assured by…people who would know…that The Hedge Fund is playing this year and are planning to be in Section 3. They do have 13 games already scheduled, against a variety of teams in a variety of sections. Probably not a shock that SCP has their details put together better then MSHSL does.
We hoped that The Hedge Fund was operating on a much more vindictive level and that they’re giving the MSHSL a huge middle finger on their lack of two classes. Unfortunately, they’re too classy for that to be the case.
Why are we hoping that? Mostly since The Hedge Fund is the team that has done everything right, and for what? Be 10-4 and have the 6 seed? For a moment …think what a two class system could bring to someone like The Hedge Fund…here’s a hint: something to play for. But this is a Section 3 preview and not a “How MSHSL has Abdicated Any Responsibility to Lacrosse” Review.
But continue to stay focused, MSHSL. Remember, its spelled: L-A-C-R-O-S-S-E.
What Happened Last Year
Section 3 was the silliest section until Section 7 said to hold their Celcius.
Semifinal 1: #5 Woodbury beat #1 Park, 8-7 in OT
Semifinal #2: #3 CDH beat #2 East Ridge, 9-6
Section Final: #3 CDH beat #5 Woodbury 12-9
Notable Players
Park
2025 Madi Brinkman (Park) - Committed to Western Missouri - D2
80 points and 88 DCs feels like a pretty good Batman…
2025 Josie Leonard (Park) - Committed to UC-Colorado Springs - D2
…to Robin’s 49 points and 66 DCs.
East Ridge
2025 Keira Limpert (East Ridge) - Commitment rumors to D2, but not confirmed
Bonkers stat line leading East Ridge: 58g/32a/91 points, 60 GB/29 FT/68 DC.
Cretin-Derham Hall
2028 Jordin Rosga (CDH)
Front runner for Ms. Lacrosse 2028, unless she transfers to mcDonough or Darian or some other east coast powerhouse. 111 points and 72 DCs. She’s going to be THE offensive focus of her opponents with Sofia Watts graduating.
2025 Jane Stangler (CDH) - Committed to Niagara -D1
Super rock solid player, probably the best type of player to complement Rosga. She’s definitely going to improve on her already great 63 points, and 56 DCs.
Simley
2025 Courtney Kurowski (Simley) - Committed to Wingate - D2
She loses a lot from the 2024 class, the ball will definitely being going through Kurowski.
Woodbury
2025 Shelby Marik (Woodbury) - Committed to Concordia St. Paul - D2
The only player left over from their quad of players that scored 81, 79, 71, and 53 points (Marik was the 79 point scorer). Like Kurowski, the ball will be going through Marik.
2025 Peyton Feigal (Woodbury)
Almost 60% save percentage…defense needs to keep the ball off of her, much may prove more difficult from some transfer portal rumblings.
St. Croix Prep
2025 Veronica Ziemer (St. Croix Prep) - Committed to Grand Valley State - D2
Leader of a set of scoring returners. We’ve pumped up SCP’s tires WAY too much.
2025 Hannah Duffee (St. Croix Prep) - Committed to UC Pueblo - D2
But one last tire pump…59.4% & 7.75 GAA for the D2 commit.
Visitation
2025 Gracia & 2027 Chloe Munoz (Visitation)
We assume sisters, but don’t know that. Their combined stat line:
62 goals, 15 assists, 77 points. Something fun to build off of.
Projected Items of Interest
Section 3 might have been the original, post Covid gong show of a Section. Just seeing how it shakes out is an item of interest.
St. Croix Prep lost a few defenders…may have lost someone to the transfer portal, but may have gained someone (or someones) in the transfer portal. All their offense is coming back, led by Veronica Ziemer. They have a committed goalie coming back and have beefed up their schedule this year. If you can’t tell, we are high on The Hedge Fund.
Park…yikes. We documented it. Its not been great in the post season. But they are going to be back to make a final crack at state with Brinkman and Leonard.
How much of a one person show is going to be for CDH?
