Section 5 was pretty stout for the top 3:

  • Semifinal 1: #1 BSM beat #5 Blake, 17-4

  • Semifinal #2: #3 Champlin Park beat #2 Maple Grove, 10-9

  • Section Final: #1 BSM beat #3 Champlin Park, 9-5

Notable Players

BSM

2025 Charlize Vang (BSM) - Committed to Lindenwood - D1

53g/20a/73 points…dominant position at left X.

2026 Jun Vang (BSM) - Committed to Army - D1

Charlize’s little sister compliments her well on the other side of attack, 25/9/34.  There’s lots of points that left town that Jun will be happy to pick up.

Champlin Park

2026 Reese Hagenbart (Champlin Park)

With 14 players out the door, Reese is going to get lots of chances to add to her 59 points and 71 DCs.

2026 Paige Hagenbart (Champlin Park)

Sparkling stats of 3.87 GAA & 58.0%.

2026 Miley Jiracek (Champlin Park)

Was a distributor with 32 assists last year.  Going to need to be a goal scorer this year.

Maple Grove

2026 Ryley Dunn (Maple Grove) - Committed to Austin Peay - D1

82 points and 67 DCs.   Real deal.

2025 Sosi Van Wyk (Maple Grove)

Matched Dunn with 82 of her own points.  A formidable 1-2 punch.

Wayzata

2025 Ainsley Owens (Wayzata) - Committed to Eastern Michigan University - D1

44g/6a/50 points & 40 GB/25 FT/47 DC - utility knife for the Trojans.

2025 Eva Schneider (Wayzata)

112 DCs!

Blake

2025 Jada Chenitz (Blake)

27 GBs and 18 FTs.  Not flashy/inflated stats, but has well deserved awards all over the place from her Soph & Junior years.  No reason it will stop her Senior year.

Armstrong/Cooper

2026 Katie Palony (Armstrong/Cooper) - Committed to Queens - D1

52g/12a/64 points.  She was primary option last year and will be again this year.

2027 Millie Mickelberg (Armstrong/Cooper)

47 DCs as a freshie deserves a little press.

Rogers

2025 Lauren Barnacle (Rogers) - Committed to Concordia St. Paul - D2

35g/14a/49 points

Projected Items of Interest

BSM lost A LOT.  We outlined it more in-depth in our team review.  It’s a little blasphemous to say, but it's going to be tough to repeat as section champs…maybe NOT SO FAST!  The Scarlet Knights marched through a Prior Lake gauntlet and then beat a Minnetonka team in the finals to win the annual Cabin Fever HS tournament on 2/23/25…so just when you think that Coach Ana and BSM might have a rougher year…they turn around and look sharp.  Shout out to #1 for BSM at Cabin Fever - had a heck of a run in the bracket play…next time we’ll know your name - we promise.

Hopkins was a little bit of a darling last year, had a few upsets and finished with a 9-6 record. They lost 9 seniors, including the lion’s share of the scoring. A repeat performance is going to be difficult against some of these squads.

Champlin Park lost more than half (14/27) of their roster.  They’ve had a fantastic run, but they’re going to need a lot of underclassmen to step up to help out the Hagenbarts.

2025 Preseason Rankings

  1. Maple Grove

  2. Benilde-St. Margaret’s

  3. Wayzata

  4. Champlin Park

  5. Armstrong/Cooper

  6. Rogers

  7. Blake

  8. Breck

  9. Osseo-Park Center

  10. Hopkins

  11. St. Louis Park (no grad years = no press or credit)
