Instant Reaction

It looks like despite losing some notable names in the 2023 class, Eagan has a lot of guys returning in the 2024 class and younger. There will be plenty to work with for Coach Mattia heading into the spring and some of big contributors are coming back. The Wildcats were a 4 overtime loss away from the state tournament last year and should be a tough matchup again this year. The return their two top point producers in Joas and Simon. O’Leary will continue to wreak havoc between the boxes. Replacing Keenan Wilson who has multiple big overtime goals for them last year and Riley Paulus who was 70% from the X in addition to notching 37 points, will be the biggest hurdle for the Wildcats.

The Future

Charlie Heinlein - Goalie - freshman goalie who came in halfway though the year last year went 6-1 for the wildcats. I would assume he is locked in to start this year and bring some early varsity experience with him.

Ethan Wollack - attack - logged minutes last year as a sophomore, will look to fill one of the attack open attack roles

Seth Kolehmainen - defense - started on defense as a sophomore. Will look to anchor for and play a leadership role for the wildcats on the back end.

2024 Schedule

Always a tough schedule through the SSC, Eagan will be battle tested come playoffs. Their OOC games include: Northfield, STA, (AT) Moorhead, Blake and White Bear Lake.

Nothing to shy at here with the OOC schedule. Northfield will be an improved team in the big 9 and heading to Moorhead is always a tough game.

In Conclusion

Eagan is always a player. No matter what, they are a team with a rich tradition and a lot of pride. They will play you 48 solid minutes and bring that Wildcat brand of up-tempo lacrosse. I think they continue to a tough out in the playoffs and provide challenging competition in the South Suburban Conference. They seemed to have managed their roster well last year and had younger players involved at all positions making the graduation a little less of an issue.
