BOYS: SECTION 6 PREVIEW
To take a term from world cup soccer, The proverbial “group of doom” is section 6 boys.
Last year, this section had 5 teams (PL, Edina, Valley, Rosemount, Jefferson) that were in the top 10 at some point
Added: State 4th place, Shakopee and a rising traditional powerhouse, Eden Prairie
Prior Lake has won the section every year since being moved into section 6 (2016) - 7 straight years
Prior Lake (14-5)
The kings of the section. Similar to “playoff EP” on the girls side, Prior Lake seems to play their best lacrosse when the calendar flips to June.

Owen Meyer - Starting Midfield
George Tocko - Starting Midfield
Griffin Marshall - earned a role as a freshman in 2023. Should have increased role in 2024
Edina (13-3)
Section runner up ‘23. One of the best young core’s in the state that has been given baptism by fire since ‘22. Now Juniors, the next two years should be “their window” - a team that had an amazing resume in 2023 and just ran into a hot PL team in sections. Play a great schedule and return a lot of talent
Key Wins
Rosemount 11-9
EP 9-6
Tonka 8-7
Stillwater 11-6

Charles Velner (2025) - FOGO
Young players: Dylan Dubuc (D), Wyatt Spindler (G), and rosemount transfer Beau Simonson (D) all (2026) should see a role in 2024
Shakopee (14-5)
A team that has been on the rise over the last 4-5 years and was one of the state’s premier teams in 2023. They will be looking to replace a large talented group of 2023s, but, a strong youth program and development across the organization should allow them to reload in 2024

Lost Personnel
Linus Toward - 61G, 13A, one of the purest goal scorers in MN lax history. I know he had the record for career goals at one point, tip of the cap
Gavin McNee - 15G, 12A
Zane Orchard - 21G, 33A
Samuel Zovic - 21 GBs, 51 CTs
Harrison Vega - 12G, 7A
Jadon Hellerud - Starting FO/S, only 54% which surprised me when I looked it up, but seemed to be a guy that always could win the big FO for the Sabres when it mattered.
Weston Brosam - .579 sv%, 5.77 GAA, Starting goalie since 8th grade.
Returning Personnel
Tanner Bachelor - 45GB, 62CTs - D1 bound to Queens
Jacob Lee - 49GBs, 42CTs - one of the more under-rated LSMs in the state in my opinion.
Landon Toward - 15G, 10A
Charlie Lindahl - 10G, 10A
Zach Docteur - 11G, 9A
Kaden Gunnare - 54% face-off spelling Hellerud in 2023.
Rosemount (9-6)
A team that was jeckyl and Hyde in 2023. Some really impressive wins. Some tough/close losses. This team sits somewhere near the top 10 in most seasons. Their 14A team was state champs in 2023 (and very good in 2022) which should bode well for incoming depth of talent

Upcoming star 2027 goalie Jack Noonan
14U A team was state champs in 2023 YLM
The Valley (11-4)
Another team that was hot and cold last year but was sitting at or near the top 10 most of the season. They lost some pretty important players to graduation, but, their JV team was solid last year. There should be enough for new coach Jack Davis to run it back
Key Wins
Jefferson 5-3

Bloomington Jefferson (6-8)
A team that returns a TON of players who were contributors in 2023. Lose very few contributors from the 2023 class. This team should have an improved record in 2024 with how much they are returning
