Instant Reaction

Lots of awards for South – we knew we weren’t going to get them all, we got what we could, nothing is intentional if any are missed – but feel free to call us out.  If only there was an org that ran and organized the high school activities that all these awards were handed out because of…and they could track all of their own shit for us…

All those awards come, in part, because some insane production.  Now…some say that South gets away with some…easier…section 1 games, but they still have their SSC schedule and schedule some quality non-conference and non-section games (Chan, BSM and Stillwater in 2023).  We really don’t have issue with their scheduling.

The pod talks a lot of how to replace mega star production.  Luckily for South, they have lots of experience replacing mega stars’ production and they have the horses in the stable to do it again.

The Future

South’s loaded 2024 class is going to carry the water that Moes and Bouman left behind.  Like all of their 2024s.  The question then becomes how does the 2025 class, and beyond, fill in the gaps (don’t worry – a little more on that below)?  Luckily, this isn’t a way way way way way way way too early 2025 preview…even if Farmington is putting things together to turn some heads in 2025 in Section 1.

Speaking of Sections and schedules…it seems one of our most hyped player’s school has been moved from Section 2 to Section 1.  Let’s see if recent High Point commit from SW Christian can mess some things up in Section 1 this year (2025 Gisella Harder).

Stat Crusade

South assisted on 59.2% of their goals (check our math Goltz…209/353).  That seems…high.  Or at least loose (cannot wait to check out some other top 10 teams and their stats).  Let’s keep this assist stat as part of the running bit.

Kate Bael sported a very solid GAA, but with a lower than expected save percentage.  We’ve seen her play a lot of club and off season lax, so we aren’t worried and we’re going to chalk up the % to being bored due to a lack of activity on the defensive end for so many games.

2024 Schedule?

Honestly…checked this on a whim.  South has 12 games already scheduled for 2024 as we type this.  Basically their SSC games and Stillwater, Chanhassen and BSM.   So good on them!  Cannot believe we have to check 2024 game schedules for this bit.

Interesting Nugget No One is Talking About

We’re breaking our own rule in the first article and giving you two nuggets and not just one.

First - There is a very talented 2025 that played for Rosemount the past 3 seasons, who now lists her high school as Lakeville South on her SportsRecruits profile.  We’re not saying…we’re just saying…. Here is her 2023 Rosemount stat line (she was only the leading point and goal scorer for the Irish):  35 goals, 18 assists, 53 points, 6 GB, 11 CT, 26 DC.

Second – Ella Davis committed to UMass-Lowell VERY early after D1 schools could reach out to PSAs (like almost impossibly early…almost).  Ella’s posts and profile show her as playing for Lakeville South, although it looks like she did a stint at Gentry a few years ago (she’s not on the 2023 Lakeville South MLH or state roster).  Regardless, congrats Ella on your fantastic news and the Lakeville South 2025s seem to be ready step in!

In Conclusion

The fact of the matter is that Tori Tschida drives the ship that is Lakeville South with her dominating play on the draw.  She dictates the rate and direction of play, controlling the draw to her circle mates…even if she seems to get a little biased into pushing it forward.  The fact that it’s clear to all what she wants to do…and then she goes ahead, speaks to how dominating she is.  Winning draws = controlling the ball on offense, which really makes it hard for your opponent to score on your defense.

The 2025s they have, the 2025s that are new to the program, and the 2025s that were off a lot of radars all seem poised to support the 2024s and really take control of the team next year.

South also plays in a lot of the off-season events we have:  Champions of Summer, GNLL’s fall league, EP’s 10K lax, PL’s Chillax, etc…and we expect that to be the same this year.  You know we like that.

We aren’t doing the 2024 preseason rankings yet…but don’t be surprised to see Lakeville South near, or at, the top.
