Girls Nightly Recap: April 16

Had a huge slate of games planned…Mother Nature decided to flip that upside down, but she did allow 5/18 games to be played.

Prior Lake 13 @ Chanhassen 7

  • Not only did they play, Chan had a free stream on YouTube.

  • The squads got a little yellow card happy with either 6 or 7 cards in the game between the two of them.

  • PL might be a team of spurts as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead, only to have that erased by 3 straight by Chan. Lakers bounced back with 2 more to make it 4-3 after the first.

  • PL’s ride and defense frustrated Chan in Q2, not allowing a goal. PL scored 1 early and then 2 at the end of the quarter to take a 7-3 lead heading into half time.

  • Chan flipped the script in Q3, shutting out the lakers, but only managing 2 goals of their own (including Gabby Bjugan’s program leading 167th goal of her career). 7-5 Prior Lake after three.

  • That may have proved to be Chan’s last gasp as PL opened up the scoring, tallying 6 in the final quarter. They allowed two: one mid way through and a second in garbage time at the end of the game. 13-7 final score.

Wayzata 16 @ Buffalo 7

Wayzata more than doubling up a Section 8 factor. Wayzata might have some gas this year…keeping our eyes open.

Orono 7 @ BSM 19

Might have been a little reality check time for our favorite squad West of the metro. Thats alright - Orono is a YOUNG team and they are going to have a few lows to match some of those highs. You beat EP…you get worked over by BSM. Its all part of learning for Orono.

The champs have put up 19 in each of their games…and have Blake on the slate for Thursday. They might have been annoyed with South being @ #1 in the preseason poll, because they are not messing around to start this season.
