Well, well, well, we have been looking forward to this preview. We’re happy to be the conductor for the Orono Spartan’s band wagon…there’s still room, but space is filling up, fast.

What They Were

12-3, 77.03 Lax Number Rating against a 72.33 strength of schedule.

#3 seed in Section 2. They lost to #2 Minnetonka in section semifinal 19-16.

What They Lost

(5) 2024s, but not a lot of production.

What They Have Coming Back

What They Have Looking Forward

Only 11 games so far, but they have a few bangers already.

MetroWest Conference: #3 BSM & #16 Chanhassen highlight the must plays.

Non conference games so far: #47 Hutchinson, #15 Rosemount, #8 Minnetonka, and #6 Gentry Academy.

Haven’t really looked at the other schedules, but how about something like SW Christian or Hill-Murray or Moorhead or STMA or Wayzata or Buffalo to fill those last 2 spots. Let’s get some up and coming teams to bang heads here!

Our Take

If you can’t tell, we hare MEGA high on Orono this year. We ID’d them 2 years ago come playoff time…we were pumping their tires last year…and this year we are pushing A LOT of chips in on Orono. Its not all rainbows and unicorns…they have question marks on defense and in goal, but man, its going to be hard to keep up with them scoring wise. And their big guns…all juniors or younger. The time for Orono starts this year. Section 2 blue bloods (Eden Prairie, Chanhassen and to a degree Minnetonka), you are on notice, but you’re all also smart enough to have been on notice already. They’re our Section 2 pre season picks, in case you’re wondering.
