Blue Bloods

DTA Nation,

I hope you had the absolute best holiday weekend, which happened to be full of amazing lacrosse. Unfortunately for the average sports fan who may not root for the blue blood lacrosse program, this weekend was full of them. Unfortunately for me, my director is a Notre Dame fan and if you read my previous blog(s) on college lacrosse, this was my last year rooting for Duke and you will never see me rooting for Notre Dame.

Before I congratulate the champions, I want to give a big shoutout to my guy Jadon Kerry of Duke. What a run for this kid. One of the first big time recruits out of MN going to Duke, had a heck of a run being a 5th year this season, battled through injuries, the covid years, upsets, missed playoffs, being a wagon, and it came down to the final whistle for Duke this season. So I just want to give the biggest shoutout to the Chanhassen Alum, MN bred, most competitive guy I know, #14. Thanks for repping our state so well and paving a path for the next generation of MN lacrosse players.

Now on to the champions, ladies first.

D3- Middlebury- Sorry this is going to read weird as I am writing this last amongst the gals, but it’ll read first. Apparently the gals were all playing for 2nd?

D2- Pace; Admittedly I have never heard of this school or program until the writing of this blog. Like Northwestern, it wasn’t even close. They dismantled every single team they played, I wonder how they’d do against some D1s.

D1- Northwestern; what a god damn wagon. I saw this team live earlier this season and they had it all. They passed the eye test. Talent all over the field. Clearly my eyes weren’t lying to me, pure domination until the end.

Onto the boys, I will actually write this in the order it reads, your welcome.

D3- Salisbury; they are all the way back after taking a few years off to let others taste what it’s like to win. This program just loves winning championships, if you are looking to go high end D3 look no further.

D2- Lenoir Rhyne; I actually have a big bone to pick with D2, how the hell do they not have auto bids for teams who win their conference tournament? This needs to be fixed asap. How LR was a 5 seed is beyond me.

D1- Notre Dame; This is a team I said in my preview that was built to go the distance, and they did just that and more. What a team, what a performance. From the brothers to the goalie and everything in between, they weren’t going to make their coach wait another second to get his championship. Congrats to Notre Dame on their first championship, and a special shoutout to the MN kids on the roster; Colin Hagstrom who contributed every game from the faceoff X and Mason Wordelman who is an up and coming defender for the Irish.

Congrats to all the champions, wagons, and especially the Minnesotans who participated in this years National Lacrosse Tournaments. Back to MN High school lacrosse, rants, and much more!

The most clueless lacrosse coach,

P-Mac
