Anoka at Totino Grace-St. Anthony Village

On a warm, sunny night in the north metro, Anoka (2-9) traveled south to take on Totino Grace-St. Anthony Village (4-6) in a Northwest Suburban Conference matchup. Both teams were looking to spark some momentum as the season winds down to an end and playoffs approach.

The Tornadoes from Anoka got out to a fast start, netting two early in the game and jumping out to a fast 4-1 lead halfway through the first. Senior leaders Kendyl St. Hilaire and Layla Alm helped lead the charge out of the gate for Anoka, spear heading the effort with the first two goals of the game.

Not to be discouraged, TGSAV sophomore Krista Munsinger did everything she could to help bring the Eagles back. Flying all over the field, Munsinger seemed to be a factor in every play for TGSAV. Despite her efforts, Anoka would close out the second half with a 6-1 lead over TGSAV.

The star of the night shined through in the second half. TGSAV did their best to come back in the game, at point bringing the score to 5-7 Anoka. However, Freshman goalkeeper, Jayden Schulz of Anoka, was able to keep the Eagles back. Recording 10 saves on 16 shots, Schulz was crucial for the Tornados tonight. Of her 10 saves, Schulz had 3 key doorstep saves, all at crucial moments, stopping the Eagles from building any momentum.
