Oh….sorry.  Didn’t see you there. We were asked to write up the job posting for our replacement after picking Chanhassen to beat Lakeville South by 2.  We think it might have been a joke by Katie…but maybe not.  She’s a little pissed right now, so we are not going to ask…not really sure what her problem is with us right now…

Anyway…we got THAT game wrong.

Lakeville South outplayed Chanhassen in each and every phase of the game Friday night.  There is no disputing or hiding that.  Not a hot take.  Not trying to piss anyone off.  Quite honestly, it was a total mess.

Before we get into scoring…Tori Tschida totally dominated the draw circle.  We didn’t keep DCs with the insanely zoomed out HUDL cam streamed to YouTube, but it was clear she took the vast majority of the draws for South (maybe all).  Its tough to stop a train that’s going downhill every time.

Lakeville started off 2 min into the game with a goal by Emily Moes.  The teams the traded possession back and forth until Sivanna O’Brien scored 4 minutes later and then again 2 minutes after that, to go up 3-0.

Chan got on the board around the 10-minute mark with Freshman Cassidy Bergstrom scoring from Gabby Bjugan.  And then the blood bath really started.

Lakeville South score 5 unanswered goals (Gabby Bouman, O’Brien, Moes, Bouman, and Bouman) to go up 8-1 for 5 min left.  The question now was South going to put Chan into running time…in the first half. We’ll take “things we did not expect to happen” for $800.

Chan and South traded goals (Allie Welder for Chan, Christina Swirtz for South) to make it 9-2 at half.

We were questioning our ability to predict HS sports at this point.

Any questions of a second half rally were squashed when South scored…6 STRAIGHT GOALS to start the half.  Not the comeback we were hoping for here.  Shout out to O’Brien, Bouman, Swirtz, Swirtz, Tschida and Katie Grubbs for putting this game totally out of hand.

Welder chipped in for Chan with her second of the game and Tschida scored the last goal of the game with 3 min left.

16-3, Lakeville South over Chanhassen.

Ouch.

A few other notes:

LOTS of Yellow Cards.  The stream doesn’t let us see how legit they were, but two of the top players for each team were disqualified after receiving 2 YCs (Emily Moes for South and Tatum Nyen for Chanhassen).  Most LOOKED soft, but it was hard to tell.  Benefit of the doubt to the refs…although lots of whistles and lots of time to set things up and quadruple check things.  Let’s keep the game flow going.  Please lets not make MN lacrosse look silly.

Zoe Zielinski for Chan did not play and appeared to be on crutches on the side lines.  That’s a significant scoring option not available.

Gabby Bjugan didn’t really come close to scoring - Kate Bael made a few saves on her.  She missed a wide-open net from the top of the 8 as the first half expired and that seemed to totally rattle her.  She’s going to bounce back, but South took her totally out of the game.

Lakeville South has so many scoring options, it’s a little silly.

Lakeville South affirms their top spot in the state and anyone that wants to argue that needs to take that crown from them.  They earned it last year and are earning it so far this year.  Got an issue with South side bias? Don’t like how they play or celebrate? Got a problem with any of that…beat them. They earned all of it. Good luck doing so.
