Instant Reaction

They started out as the greatest show on turf…and then sputtered on the way to the end of the season.  Seems clear why looking back at their stats.  Let’s start breaking them down.

The Future

This is as much of a no brainer as possible.  Jordin Rosga (2028) scored 94 points last year.  As a 7th grader.  On varsity.

Big sister Rosga ran up numbers for Gentry and little sister Rosga is doing the same, except she’s at dad’s alma matter.

Speaking of dad (Jeff), he serves as CDH’s HC, after serving two years as Gentry HC (don’t believe us, go look at CDH’s own release on the matter)…all well after playing football at Minnesota.  Not to be outdone, Mom, no slouch, played basketball at Syracuse, while older brother played basketball at Denver.  Wow.

Pretending for a moment that Rosga plays the next 5 years somewhere in MN, its hard to imagine that she won’t hold every possible offensive record in MN girls lacrosse.  We only say that, as both sisters played (Jaylen) or play (Jordin) club locally, but also with the Yellow Jackets (Long Island version and not the other off brand versions), and it just seems at least reasonably possible that there could be a spot for Jordin at some of the big time schools out east, if she grows tired, or out, of the MSHSL lax scene.

The future for CDH is all Rosga, until its not.  She’s only an 8th grader this season.

Stat Crusade

In our crusade on assist percentage…CDH assisted 100/205 goals scored…48.8%.  Higher, but not out of line.

For the record the past teams were 59.1%, 50.1%, 34.8%, 67.4%, 58.7%, 55.7%, 33.3%, 38.2%, 44.5%, 50.7%, 57.9%, 31.5%, 24.8%, 52.1, and 48.8%

It’s a shame, but we haven’t mentioned the other member of the CDH dynamic duo, Sofia Watts.  Watts and Rosga combined for 131/205 (63.9%) of CDH’s goals.

Even more interesting…they combined for 143/221 (64.7%) of the teams DCs…with the Stangler sisters taking up the rest of the DCs.  4 players with every DC…yeah, we’re going to need to see some others with production.

2024 Schedule?

Tip of the cap to CDH…13/13 games scheduled by the time we write this.  Notable opponents are White Bear Lake, Woodbury, Stillwater, BSM, East Ridge, Chanhassen, Park and Buffalo.  Not bad!

Interesting Nugget No One is Talking About

Had two goalies on the roster – both seniors.  Loyal readers will know we do not like that at all.

In Conclusion

11 seniors to replace…not all critical contributors, but contributors none the less.  The Dynamic Duo of Watts and Rosga should be back, but CDH needs to diversify their offensive output besides only having Jane Stangler step into big sister’s shoes.  That recipe works against mid-tier programs, but won’t stand again the top tier programs, which we think CDH proved to themselves as last year’s season concluded.  Will anyone pop up in the MSHSL charter/private school transfer portal to help solve the problem?  We might not know for sure until spring.
