GIRLS Top 20 Preview: #9 East Ridge

Reminder: our list is based off of the laxnumbers ranking list…here. Don’t hate the journalists…hate the algorithm or your shooting percentage.

This is the last Section 3 squad in our top 20 review…and its as curious as the others in the section.

Another side note: If you’ve never seen an East Ridge home game (and why would you unless you’re a parent of an East Ridge kid, a parent of a playing playing against East Ridge, or a incognito source of info for a small MN lax podcast and blog)…tune into the stream. East Ridge is an NSPN school and NSPN usually has competent to good broadcasters…but listen to their PA. A total vibe. Calling him “high energy” is underselling him. Its a little silly saying you’d go to a game to listen to the PA, but thats the territory we are approaching…and he CERTAINLY adds to the experience of watching a high school game. We pray for East Ridge he does lax again this spring.

And who else is going to bring you an inside scoop on a must see/hear high school PA then Down the Alley? Certainly not the “crew” at MN Lax Hub…. Maybe MSHSL will send John Milea down to…expand on our lead.

Our Take

The Section 3 preview is going to be a banger and we’re trying hard to not make this a Section 3 preview.

Did they have any great wins last year? Kinda…not really…

Their best wins:

  1. Woodbury 13-12

  2. CDH 14-12

  3. Rosemount 7-3

Their loses:

  1. Lakeville South 11-8

  2. Stillwater 13-4

  3. Park 6-5 (in a silly 6 OT game)

  4. CDH 9-6

Was their best game the 11-8 loss against South on April 13? Probably.

Obviously, life comes and goes with Keira Limpert. She was supported by a great Robin (to her Batman) in Sydney Meyers and we think is going to miss having that. She also benefitted from having a rock in goal with Izzy Orton.

Garrett and Szybatka are most likely candidates to step up, but the Raptors fall into a similar spot with a lot of this Section 3 teams:

  1. play in a tough conference against a top 5 non section opponent

  2. have question marks from last year
