Instant Reaction

We are more positive on Gentry than most of the DTA crew, and we think they’ll be even better this year.  Whatever that means.

Shout out to the East Side Source…for not answering Katie’s texts or our DMs.  We’ll go with what we have, but no complaints from the East Siders – we try.

The Future

Gentry has a STRONG 2026 class and what MIGHT be a deeper 2027 class, even if we didn’t list them out.  No #monkeyingaround from them in the next years (see what we did there…monkeying around…you know…their charter club lax program…never mind).

Got the chance to see Samantha Hohn play in person.  She appears to be the real deal and not just living off of inflated numbers and social media snips.  Imagine if she was playing even a CDH-like schedule.  Maybe someday there will be two classes in lax (assuming Gentry won’t petition to be in the lower class).

Stat Crusade

In our crusade on assist percentage…Gentry assisted 135/230 goals scored…58.7%.  Kinda in line.

For the record, our top 5 teams were 59.1%, 50.1%, 34.8%, 67.4%, and 58.7%.

Honest take – thumbs up to Gentry.  Given their schedule, they could have really run the scores up.

2024 Schedule?

We’re not making this up.  Gentry doesn’t even have their activities listed in their rSchool schedule…much less the schedules for any activities.  Most predictable thing ever.  Seriously…all the big programs are making their schedules and you guys are going to be left holding the bag…again.

Or maybe they are dissolving?

We don’t have a horse in this race, we just want the content.

Interesting Nugget No One is Talking About

They had (2) 2025s on their roster last year.  Get ready for a youth movement after this year…assuming they have a team, or don’t co-op with 5 other schools, or become a national team (#monkeyingaround) to play against IMG and the like.

Maybe they realize their true identity as the Diet Shattuck of Vadnais Heights, kill off their lax program and continue their focus on recruiting (VERY ALLEGEDLY) the best hockey team they can find.  Could Mounds Park Academy be the new Gentry under a different name?

Calm down.  Content…we just want content and Gentry, if its anything, is a content machine.  Has any team been talked about as much that has made the state tournament one time?

In Conclusion

We joke a lot about stuff…but who really knows what Gentry is going to be?  Did all their players head over to Hill-Murray?  Maybe.  Will they fold in five private schools into their charter nirvana to make a mega lax squad?  They might.  Pretty sure they do anyway.

Honestly…it feels just as likely that they go national and tell MSHSL to screw off (except it seems like it would be hard to get anyone’s serious attention on the national lax scene if you can’t even burn down the MN lax scene…but they have experience doing just that…#monkeyingaround) as it is to run it back, while thumbing their nose at MSHSL.  Hey, let’s face it - what would the MSHSL do anyway? Hint:  NOTHING…they allowed that shit to happen, allegedly, to precious hockey while they can’t even spell lacrosse – it seems like no rules are the new rules over at MSHSL-ville.

Assuming that they are basically unchanged, Gentry has a great set of 2024s, supported by what should be really strong 2026s and 2027s.  Gentry should be one of the favorites in Section 4…although Stillwater and a few others will still want to have a say still, but this isn’t a section preview.

Discounting or ignoring Gentry, because of the jokes, would be a mistake…unless they’ve all jumped ship (this is when the East Side Source would have been very helpful).

There it is, that’s a Gentry way too early preview.
