DTA Awards: Girls

As Uncle Ted has probably indicated, our dives into the awards in MN have really opened our eyes.

All State. All Section. All Conference. Sure - all great! How these teams are determined…still a little bit unclear.

We can do this better…and we will do this better.

These are who we think should be here. That simple. No agenda. No axe to grind. No hard feelings. Don’t agree with them - great - we’ll help you build your website for your own blog and podcast about MN HS Lacrosse - cannot wait to hear your teams there.

Our ground rules:

  1. DTA Player of the Year will be a senior

  2. DTA Goalie of the Year will be a senior

  3. All DTA Teams

    1. Open to anyone that plays for a MSHSL sanctioned team

    2. Will have (4) attackers, (4 middies), (4) defenders, and (1) goalie per team

    3. Will use the position they are rostered at for their team (IE, if they play defense in club, but middie in MSHSL, they are a middie for this exercise)

Let’s get into it.

DTA Player of the Year

Tori Tschida, Midfielder, Lakeville South

Check out our article previewing OUR nominees for Ms Lacrosse and Ms Goalie. Thats where this is all coming from.

We’ve all taken our joking shots calling Lakeville South the Evil Empire, the Russians, the Soviets, Darth Vader, etc. Those are not slights, those are quick descriptors of how we feel about them:

  1. Excellent

  2. Efficient

  3. Intimidating

Well, Tori is the maestro that conducts that symphony of destruction.

Most of our info, “articles” and bits are driven around stats, because stats are what we have to go off of quickly and easily: goals, assists, wins, DCs. Tori doesn’t have great stats. She has very good stats. Its those very good stats, combined with her physical presence and attitude on the field, that make her our inaugural girls winner.

I’ve watched a lot of Lakeville South games the past three years, and Tori has basically dominated the draw circle that entire time. You know what makes lacrosse a lot easier? Having your draw taker be able to dictate where the ball is going, what seems like every single time. That then makes your offense better and makes your defense better.

The cool thing in this: I’ve never seen her not smiling and seemingly having a great time playing. We all have bad days. We all have off days. Tori does too, but she doesn’t seem to let anyone in on it.

DTA Goalie of the Year

Katie Colleran, Goalie, Chanhassen

Sure. Chan has not had the season they’ve had the past few years. Hasn’t bothered Katie.

Katie’s been a rock on defensive side for the past 3 seasons for the storm. She has career totals of 877 SOG with 399 GA and 478 Saves. That equates to career save % over 54% and a GAA under 8.00. You can build a really competitive team with a goal turning in that type of performance against the schedule Chanhassen plays. She will be missed.
