Game 6 Recap – State Tournament Semi Final:  BSM vs Lakeville South

Well.  That was fun!  We tweeted this a lot, but thank you to both teams for this game.  Let’s be honest…QFs were a little flat.  This made up for it.

South started game doing what they do…winning draws and scoring fast.  1-0 South.

Not so fast.

BSM won more than their fair share of draws as the teams traded goals to get to 2-2…when BSM went on a 4 goal run.

In the midst of this run, Emily Moes went down on a pretty innocent play.  The play did not look good.  She did not look right the rest of the game.  Really, really curious about this.  She’s won virtually every award and we expect her to be the deserved Miss Lacrosse…but she had a quiet day and really looked not right.

So…back to the game…after BSM went up 6-2…South did what we all expected them to, mount the come back.  Half time the score was 7-7.

Second half was better.

Quick observation:  Brooke Nelson’s clears.  So sharp.  So good.  Makes the read and the quick decision and its almost always right on the money.  Getting that ball out so fast is really fun to see.

Not too shocking…physicality ramped up in the second half.  Traded goals back and forth…with BSM taking an 11-10 lead with 10 min left.

Of course, South went on a 3 goal run that looked like was icing the game for the Cougars.  Controlled the 5 min stretch in all facets.  And then…

…BSM rallied again, started by what appeared to be a South off sides call.  BSM scored the last 3, including having the game winner scored by Lauren Hillins.  So fun to see.

Speaking of fun to see…have a game Charlize Vang.  5 goals of first 10 goals for BSM.  Older sister chipped in with a goal and little sister Jun shook loose from Tori Tschida for a late goal. We’ve been a big and vocal supporter of the Vangs…so happy for them.

BSM wins 14-13.  Down goes the most dominant team on the girls side this year (more on the boys side from the boys crew).

Goals for BSM:  Charlize Vang 5, Julia Evens 3, Maggie Graczyk 1, Maddie Kalstas 2, Jun Vang 1, Fayedra Vang 1, Lauren Hillins 1
