Girls Nightly Recap: April 11

Going to try something out with this. These will be a recap of what we found interesting. If you want all the scores - go to MN Lax Hub or LaxNumbers like the rest of us.

Great Games

11 pretty good games tonight. Close games and solid teams/matchups.

Weather

Sure, there were a few popcorn type showers going on and the wind picked up, but not too bad for opening night of lax games. This weekend looks even better. Spoiled, but we’ll take it.

EP 16 @ Orono 17

We hate to say it…but we’re going to say it. Go check the records and see who picked Orono to make some noise in Section 2. Go ahead, we’ll wait.

This one had a free stream, so there is no excuse (we had it on our page). In what we can only describe as a “defense optional” type game, we picked it up just before half time, where Orono had a 10-5 lead at the break.

Eden Prairie stormed back to tie it up, only for Orono to bounce back with a few goals to take 14-11 lead at the end of 3 quarters. There, EP put the breaks on Orono and the Layla Nick show (more on that in a sec), to take a 16-15 lead….with a minute left.

Orono only scored 2X with less than a minute to tie the game back up and then take the lead 17-16. What a wild game!

Layla Nick (Orono 2027) led all scorers with 9 goals…yes, 9 goals…yes, 2027! She scored the game winner (no surprise). Dylan Collins had 4 of her own, including the game tying goal.

Kaci Kotchevar-Call (EP 2024) chipped in with 7 of her own goals in defeat.

What a fun fricking game to start the season with here. Thank you!

SWC 16 @ Chaska 9

One of the original Mrs. PMac darlings, SWC really took care of business, beating Chaska 16-7.

We were in and out of this game, but when we check in SWC held the lead.

Gisella Harder (THE Junior) scored 5 goals for SWC, but the Stars, when we were watching, made huge efforts to balance out their attack.

Nice win for the SWC program

BSM 19 @ Woodbury 7

Not a surprise here, but the champs took care of business on the road against what could have been a tricky match up. No one is worried about their offense, but perhaps a few were looking to see what a team like Woodbury could do against their defense. First test passed.

The next test for the Scarlet Knights? Our newest darling team…Orono on Tuesday the 16th!

Rosemount 7 @ Champlin Park 9

Working to get our hands on this steam (editor’s note: we did - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QSEfQSYANM). CP has their stats on MLH alraedy and who you’d think scored did. Lauren Schindlebeck scored 4, Annabelle Johnson 3 and Paige Hangenbart stopped 53.3%. Good win for CP.
