Recap - Games of the Week: Week 2 - April 22

Notes for games we went to, streamed, are telling a story based on Lax Hub stats, or had sources report in on.

If you want to be a source, know of a stream, or want to help us out in any way - PLEASE shoot us an email at mrspmacssource@gmail.com

Gentry 11 @ Hudson 12

Thank you Hudson for having your HUDL free!

We aren’t commenting on Hudson’s players here. No ill will…there is only so much lacrosse we can really care about…we hope there is a WI podcast in Milwaukee that is watching this stream too! Are we TOO loyal to the MSHSL?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Hudson stream/field set up. Really easy to see and read their score board (until it got dark and then if became a blur). PA can be heard clearly, Maybe we do need to cover more WI lax.

Also…we thought Izola Anderson from Gentry went by Izzy…but the Hudson PA was saying Zoey. So, apologies to any time we have called you Izzy…unless that actually is right, but then we’ll apologize for the Hudson PA. So regardless…sorry!

Quarter 1:  Hudson pretty much controlled pace of play, including scoring first goal in 17 seconds in. Gentry (Zoey Anderson) answered to tie it at one. Hudson scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead late, but Eva Berg scored with about 30 second left. Gentry 2, Hudson 3

Quarter 2:  Scoring for each squad picked up in second quarter, but with Hudson roaring out of the blocks first, scoring 3 goals before a Gentry time out, making the score 6-2 with 8:15 left in the half. Coach made a real good adjustment…let Sam Hohn score…so she did, 6-3 Hudson. Teams traded possessions and the refs made their own points (yeah refs), until Eva Berg scored for Gentry, 6-4 with 4:38 left. Hudson scored with 3:48 left to make it 7-4, before Gentry scored twice (Maddie Baker & Eva Berg) to end the half. Gentry 6, Hudson 7

Quarter 3:  Sloppy start for both teams out of half, but Gentry cracked open the scoring (Zoey Anderson from Eva Berg) and then Zoey again, but this time all by herself. to give Gentry their first lead, 8-7 with about 20 min left in Q3. Time out Hudson. This allowed the refs to blow a few confusing whistles…and then we got to playing again...until we had 3 yellow cards in about a minute! Hudson, with the player advantage scored…8-8. Krista Csatlos from Gentry made it 9-8 Gentry with about 2:30 left in the quarter, before Hudson scored two unanswered with less then a minute to go, to take the lead going into the 4th. Gentry 9, Hudson 10

Quarter 4:  Sam Hohn lit the lamp early in the 4th to tie it back up at 10 goals apiece. After another Gentry YC, Hudson marched down and scored, taking the 11-10 lead. Then…both teams inadvertently went into dueling stalls as they reduced their offenses to 1v1s and turnovers, as both melted the clock down. Gentry broke up their stall for a nice little play…Sam Hohn from Lauren Smith, 11-11. On the subsequent draw, Hohn picked up her second YC, disqualifying her from the game and leaving Gentry a player down for the rest of the contest (4 team YCs). Game was tied 11-11 with, we think, 3:30ish left when Hudson called a timeout. Hudson worked the clock really well until they had a quality shot…only to have Ava Davis shut the door…but the rebound came right back to the shooter and she scored, making it 12-11 Hudson. The Raiders won the draw, burned down the clock a player up and closed out the win.

Final Score:  Gentry 11, Hudson 12

Shout out to the Gentry stats person - might want to check those assist numbers…the squad didn’t assist on 10/11 goals. The first half, you scored six goals…only one was assisted. We generously had four total assists for the game. Just saying - we need a giant grain of salt reading good old MN Lax Hub the rest of the year.

Eva Berg (Gen): 3 goals, 1 assist

Zoey Anderson (Gen): 3 goals, 1 assist

Sam Hohn (Gen): 3 goals

Minnetonka 14 @ Edina 13

Another one where we didn’t watch and are fighting for info on.  Sorry Edina…we aren’t paying for your stream.

Its too bad, because this was a close game and we’d love to have had a little more context.  And we’re waiting on those Minnetonka stats…

Kathryn Ewers (Edina):  4 goals

Kaylee Idrago-Lam (Edina): 4 goals, 1 assist

Suri Austin (Edina):  2 goals, 1 assist

Rosemount 8 @ Lakeville South 10

This is a stream we know is there (shout out GameTime Media).

Quarter 1:  Rosemount jumped out to 1-0 lead to start the game (Izzy Mroczenski from Izzy Donati).  South answered back with goals from Mackenzie Stroemer and Charlotte Fannin.  The quarters ends with South up 2-1.

Quarter 2:  This quarter was the Ella Mills show.  South outscored Rosemount 5-2…4 of those from Mills and the 5th from Fannin.  7-3 South at half time.

Quarter 3:  Slow start to the quarter.  Turnovers, fouls, wide shots, etc.  South scored the first goal of the half…and then Rosemount turned the jets on by scoring 3 goals in the last 3:40 minutes of play…including getting a goal with a player down (Donati, Aubrey Zaun, and Emma Theisen).  8-6 at the end of the quarter, with Rosemount outscoring South 3-1.

Quarter 4:  Play started out slow for the 4th, with South trying to salt away their 2 goal lead.  Rosemount had another yellow card, but that didn’t stop them from scoring the first of the quarter, to make it a 1 goal game, 8-7.  Mills answered back with a 8m goal, giving her 5 goals on the game and making the score 9-7.  Fannin scored a goal quickly to make the score 10-7.  South smartly stalled out them game…however Rosemount did get a final tally with under a minute to play, as Aubrey Zun picked off a pass near midfield, ran it down, got hammered, but managed to score the goal.  10-8 final.  Good game!

Final Score:  Rosemount 8, Lakeville South 10

Ella Mills (South):  5 goals

Charlotte Fannin (South):  3 goals, 3 assists (yeah – we saw that South credited her with 5 assists…seemed a little generous on a couple of them).

Kate Bael (South):  13 saves, 61.5%

Aubrey Zaun (Rose):  3 goals

Izzy Mroczenski (Rose): 2 goals

Izzy Donati (Rose): 2 goals, 1 assist
