2024: Every Girls MSHSL Program in One Sentence

Welcome to Day 1 of the 2024 MSHSL Lacrosse Season!

Inside Lacrosse does a bit each spring, giving 1 sentence to each D1 program

Challenge accepted!

 

Here is one sentence for each girls program in the MSHSL.

 

Andover

They bring back a lot of their production, so they look to fill the vacuum left by the Section 7 champs being moved into Section 5.

 

Anoka

Tough to see where production will come from right now.

 

Apple Valley-Burnsville

Are they AV/B or just AV and B?

 

Becker

Please update your MN Lax Hub info.

 

Benilde-St Margaret’s

The CHAMPS are here…just without their goalie.

 

Big Lake

Might be rough year for Big Lake.

 

Blaine

They lose they lose (11) 2023s.

 

Blake School

Losing 2nd – 6th points scorer and a goalie. 

 

Bloomington Jefferson

Seems like last year was Jefferson’s chance to make a lot of noise…with solid 2023s and a bunch of 24s and 25s to help out. 

          

Bloomington Kennedy

BK doesn’t list their grad years on MLH…so see Becker.

 

Brainerd

Brainerd only has 11 games worth of stats loaded in MLH…so see Becker.

          

Breck School

Lost their leading point scorer (76 points) and second leading scorer (41 points). 

Buffalo

Buffalo got the Source’s jinx last year (sorry about that), so we hesitate to put them at 1 in Section 8…but we still like what’s coming out of Bison Blvd.

 

Centennial

Centennial has (50) people on their MLH rosters…(10) of which were 2023 and, by a very large margin, their top 2 point scorers. 

 

Champlin Park

Probably the #1 social media squad (we see you too Moorhead, calm down), was #1 in Section 7 in 2023…congrats, you get to go to Section 5 with the defending state champions.

 

Chanhassen

They lost (3) mega performers, have another new coach, and have another producer returning from significant injury. 

 

Chaska

Sara Siman and Morghan Pollock look to be the logical pieces to fill the graduating production, bolstered by a goalie that had a full year in cage as a Freshman last year.

 

Chisago Lakes

A program on the rise, they do lose their #1 points scorer, but return most everything else, including their keeper. 

 

Columbia Heights

Columbia Heights had a tougher run in 2023…and they are losing their top 2 scorers to graduation. 

 

Coon Rapids

Looking to rally from last years’ mark.

 

Cretin-Derham Hall

Losing Anna Stangler feels like a big deal, along with the other (10) 2023s that graduated, even with potential 2024 Ms. Lacrosse candidate Sofia Watts (86 points) and 2028 phenom Jordin Rosga (97 points).

 

Delano/Rockford

Tough to make too many educated takes here, with only 3 games worth of stats in MN Lax Hub.

 

Duluth Co-Op

Based on their schedule, it seems they could be primed for making more noise than last year.

 

Duluth Marshall

Went 1-6 last year…no grad years in MLH

 

East Ridge

While they have (14) 2024s (including 68 point scorer Sydney Meyers and 40 point scorer Maggie Pape…along with D3 commit Izzy Orton in goal), they are led by 2025 Keira Limpert, with her 74 points and will also eat up a lot of older sister’s 105 DCs that she leaves after heading to Palm Beach Atlantic. 

 

Eastview/Eagan

They lose a lot - like all of their production and their best defender, but Eagan is Eagan.

 

Eden Prairie

We thought the road to state would be more difficult this year for EP, but then they win Cabin Fever, telling us to hold our horses.

 

Edina

They lost (3) big stars, mega goalie, and (2) defensive starters.

 

Elk River/Zimmerman

(7) 2024s and (6) 2025s, which includes 2024 Katie Wozney and her 33 points/84 DCs and 2025 Lilly Osterman and her 55 points/77 DCs.

 

Farmington

A bushel basket full of 2025s that are looking to rattle some Section 1 cages.

 

Forest Lake

They struggled a little last year and now lose their #1 point scorer, by almost 30 points, to graduation.

 

Gentry Academy/Mounds Park Academy

Honest take here - if there is a parents Gentry stream, we’d love to have it - we simply need to see more Gentry to have more informed takes on them.

 

Grand Rapids-Greenway

They lost a 70 point scorer, but bring back a 78 and 80 point scorer and their goalie.

 

Hastings

They lost (15) 2023s, but return 4/5 of their top scorers.

 

Hermantown-Proctor

Don’t list grad years and we are not a super deep H/P lax mind.

 

Hill-Murray

Have a few youngsters that are making noise in the club scene, but we are most interested to see how Frannie Primoli comes back from her injury (words from sources is she’s back).

 

Holy Angels Academy

7-6 in 2023, can 2024 be a continuation of the growth from the Prior Lake coaching tree?

 

Holy Family Catholic

JJ McKenna sported a 55.3% save percentage.

 

Hopkins

Lots of production returning, was 7-7 last year, made waves for a few upsets, very keen on Hopkins this year!

 

Hutchinson

Loses one senior, was 10-5 in 2023 and have a lot of experience, a lot of production, and their goalie. 

 

Irondale

Lose (11) 2023s who played at all spots in the field.

 

Lakeville North

Top 3 point earners and their goalie all coming back (2025 Shay Swanson, 2024 Izzy Bohlman, 2024 Kayla Ross, and 2024 Brooke Wagenbach).

 

Lakeville South

Loses a lot, brings back a lot, one out, next in.

 

Mahtomedi

A tough out every year, they have one of WI’s top squads (Hudson) on their schedule – we like that!

 

Mankato Co-Op

Battling with Orono and SW Christian for the #1 spot on the Mrs. P-Mac’s Source’s 2024 All Jinx List – we like a lot of what we see brewing in Mankato.

 

Maple Grove

Have a TON of production coming back and seem to be really pushing their chips all in. 

 

Minneapolis Co-Op

Minnetonka

If there was a year for the Skippers, this HAS to be the year.

 

Monticello

They were 7-7 in 2024, and bring back a ton of their scoring and their goalies.

 

Moorhead

Spud Wagon brings back a lot of their scoring with 2025 Sydney Martinson, along with their 2027 goalie, Lake Parr.

 

Mound-Westonka/Providence Academy

Maddyn Greenway + Lacrosse Stick = Unstoppable (too bad she runs track)

 

Mounds View

Losing a only a few 2023, returning most of the production, and having some options in goal.

 

New Prague

Very 2024 heavy.

 

North St Paul

MSHSL says they are splitting apart their co-op with Tartan.

 

Northfield

Orono

The apple of our eye this year – Lots of good, young producers – we might be a year too early on the Orono train, but at least we’ll have a seat.

 

Osseo-Park Center

They had no grad years or uniform numbers, enough said.

 

Owatonna

Lost their big point scorer, but returns next two scorers and has a returning goalie who is only a 2026. 

 

Park of Cottage Grove

Another squad losing their leading point scorer, but bringing back 2025s Josie Leonard and Madi Brinkman as the next two leading point scorers…but as important, brings back a 2025 in goal, Aubree Laska. 

 

Prior Lake

11 NCAA commits (2 D1 and 9 D2) so far, from the PL program.

 

Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper

Never has a co-op made more sense from the outside as smashing the two Robbinsdales together.

Rochester Century

Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes
Top 3 pointer earners returning (2025, 2025, and 2028), along with two goalies (both 2026s), and you’re the top Rochester in our eyes!

 

Rochester Mayo

See Century.

 

Rocori

Brings back their two leader scorers from last year. 

 

Rogers

Lost (3) 2023s who produced, but have a lot coming back, including their 2026 goalie.

 

Rosemount

Lost leading point scorer to transfer and interconference foe, Lakeville South.

 

Roseville

Top 4 point returners are back, goalie is back, and lost only (4) seniors. 

 

Sartell-Sauk Rapids

Shakopee

Welcome to Section 6, we’d like to introduce you to your section mates, Prior Lake, Edina, and Rosemount.

 

Simley

Lost a lot of defense, but bring back basically all of their offense and their goalie – a very tough out in Section 3 (ask Woodbury and Park, and even East Ridge who beat them by a goal).

 

Southwest Christian

THE Freshman, became THE Sophomore, and is now THE Junior.

 

Spring Lake Park

Looking at their losses and returners, feels a little bit like treading water.

 

St Cloud Area

Quick:  Guess how many wins they had in 2023 – it’ll be more than you think and they bring almost everything back this year (answer is 11).

 

St Croix Prep Academy

Return three of top four leading scorers and their goalie…and the team was 9-5 last year – let’s make some noise in Section 3.

 

St Louis Park

(3) 2023s leaving, but sounds like one of their top 2026s has transferred into Orono.

 

St Michael-Albertville

(4) 2023s left that were all major producers – they’re going to need a little time to sort o ut a new rotation.

 

St Paul Academy

St Paul/Two Rivers Co-Op

Stillwater

They’ve got youth, they’ve got experience, they’ve got a goalie all coming back – checks all the boxes.

 

Tartan

MSHSL says they are splitting apart their co-op with North St. Paul.

 

Totino-Grace

They’re losing a significant portion of their squad #s wise (8 2023s), but get their first, third, and fourth point earners back, along with their primary goalie from last year’s campaign. 

 

Visitation

8-6 last year and following up with a very appropriate schedule this year.

 

Waconia

They lost (7) 2023s from a squad that went 0-14 last year.

 

Wayzata

Wayzata plays (6) games in April, including against Buffalo, Champlin Park, BSM, Blake, and Minnetonka- we’ll have a good idea if the Trojans can compete with the big dogs or not.

 

White Bear Lake

Loses only (4) 2023s (none were in the top of their production last year), have (5) college commits on their rosters return all of their offensive production and bring their net minder back. 

 

Woodbury

They get their top 3 and 5th leading scorers back, they get their goalie back who sported a .609 save percentage…but 10.21 GAA
