Quarterly Check In & State Review - Girls

Well. Here we are - season’s over.

Before we get too far, we were going to roll in the All State game to this update, and even had arranged for an in person watch of the game…but the BSM AD apparently didn’t do their daily set of Hail Mary’s and were afraid the all-stars were going to be struck down with great vengeance and furious anger. Oh ye of little faith, its 7:25 PM as we type this and there aren’t any lightening strikes within 30 miles of St. Louis Park. HE must be a lax fan.

OK - enough tweaking our friends at BSM who were gracious enough to host the event, let’s get into the end.

Congrats to Lakeville South. They don’t like it when we say they’re the Soviets, or the Empire, or Captain Hadley at Shawshank State Prison (google it players). And they’re right to not like that - all of those villains fail and one thing the Cougars did not do this year was fail. Nor are they really villains (but we needed villain and do you realize how boring these would be to write without one)! 19-0. Well done! Our apologies - you’re smart, we’re dumb.

State Championship Final: #1 Lakeville South 12 over #2 Prior Lake 8

First off - can it stop raining. Please?

First Quarter: Cougars pretty much dominated everything, but especially the draw. Tori was doing Tori things. Katie was doing Katie things. Sivanna (not Sylvia) was doing Sivanna (not Sylvia) things. Essentially a clinic. This was getting pretty bad, pretty quick for PL. 4-1 Lakeville South.

Second Quarter: PL came roaring back to score 5 unanswered goals to make it 6-4 Prior Lake, late in second quarter. Don’t know this, but its entirely likely this is the first time South was down by two goals and maybe down at all, ALL SEASON. But Vader got their light saber out (sorry) and scored 2 goals before half time to tie it up at 6. New game. 24 minutes left.

Third Quarter: To paraphrase Omar from The Wire - “You come at the Queen, you best not miss.” Well, PL came at the queen and they missed. South crushed whatever momentum PL had and won the quarter 5-0, to take a 11-6 lead. Good night.

Fourth Quarter: PL actually won the quarter 2-1, but Tori capped off the game and a truly fantastic career with an open net goal to make the final 12-8.

Lakeville South:

  • Sivanna O’Brien: 4 goals, 2 assists, 10 DC (think about this for a sec)

  • Katie Grubbs: 3 goals, 3 DC

  • Tori Tschida: 2 goals, 1 assist, 5 DC

  • Ella Mills, Charlotte Fannin, and Addy Hayes: 1 goal each (Fannin also has an assist)

Prior Lake:

  • Kayleigh Sandell: 2 goals, 1 assist

  • Sadie Chappuis: 2 goals

  • Tali Baldzicki: 2 goals

  • Britney Pinkowski: 1 goal, 1 assist

  • Abby Grove: 1 goal

3rd Place Game: #3 BSM 15 over #4 Stillwater 13

Not surprising with these squads, awesome game.

5-5 after 1, 8-7 BSM at half, 12-11 Stilly after 3, 15-13 BSM final

BSM:

  • Julia Evens: 5 goals

  • Charlize Vang: 4 goals, 2 assists

  • Maggie Graczyk: 2 goals, 4 assists

  • Katie Kroft: 2 goals

  • Lauren Hillins: 1 goal, 2 assists

  • Maddie Kaltsas: 1 goal, 1 assist

  • Jun Vang: 1 assist

Stillwater:

  • Ava Mosley: 5 goals

  • Maycie Neubauer: 4 goals, 1 assist

  • Lydia Glass: 2 goals, 2 assists

  • Cassidy Keykal: 1 goal, 1 assist

  • Maddie Richert: 1 goal

Consolation Championship: #5 BSM 18 over UR Elk River/Zimmerman 9

The Tonka statistician apparently checked out a game early, so we have no stats…but shout out to Skippers for putting together a great game.

ERZ: hats off to you guys. Another great regular season. Another great state tournament run. We hope we are all smart enough to give you the credit you deserve next preseason. Thanks to the North Side Source!

Ms. Lacrosse and Ms. Goalie

Its not really out there much, but the Mr. and Ms. Lacrosse '“trophies” were awarded on Sunday. Hats off to BSM’s Julia Evens and Chanhassen’s Katie Colleran for winning Ms. Lacrosse and Ms. Goalie, respectively. Well deserved and well earned!

So, there you have it. Another season in the books.

What does this mean for the DTA girls lax blog? Well…not a whole lot. We are working on 1 final large article for the season that will be pretty evergreen and accumulating as many off season awards as we can to post. Those will come out somewhat soon and then we’ll shut things down until the fall when off season stuff starts popping and we can see if there are any interesting entries into the transfer portal.

Anything you have - DM us on twitter or email it to Ted. We’ve scrubbed a lot of social media and thanks to those that have sent in their stuff. We have it. We will post it.
