State Semifinal #1: Prior Lake 11 vs BSM 10, Overtime

Well…you wanted a game…we got a game.

This game was fun to watch and was played against two teams that seemed just about as evenly matched as we could draw up.

The game was tight from the whistle with each team getting a 2 goal lead, 1 time during the game.

PL started out hot and started the game up 2-0…only to have BSM score 3 straight to be up 3-2 after Q1.

PL tied it at 3 and then BSM scored 2, to take a 5-3 lead. PL chipped in 1 with about 6 min left in the half and that scored held to half time, 5-4 BSM.

Draw game, goals scored, goalie play…all pretty much equal in first half and more of the same in second half.

PL scored 2 straight to take a 6-5 lead…only to have BSM score 2 straight to get back up by 1. PL scored a goal with 1.4 second left in the quarter to tie it up at 7.

Don’t worry…it stayed close…

Back and forth, forth and back…BSM was up 10-9 with about 4 min left. PL end up with possession and called Time Out with 3 min left. Then Abby Grove entered the chat.

Grove tied up the game with about 1 min left…PL won the draw, but was then called for an offsides call.

BSM move the ball forward and then called their own time out with 18 seconds left.

The subsequent PL ride forced a turnover, but they ran out the clock to send the game into OT.

After a scrum for the DC that seemed to involved everyone on both teams, Abby Grove came out of the pile with the DC, got to the corner, drove to net, shot and scored. Game over. 11-10 PL.

WOW!

PL:

  • Sadie Chappuis: 3 goals, 1 assist

  • Abby Grove: 3 goals

  • Lauryn Knutson: 1 goal, 4 assists

  • Britney Pinkowski: 1 goal, 1 assist

South was up 7-2 after Q1.

Up 9-3, Stillwater scored 3 straight to make a game of it…9-6 South at half.
