Section Review: June 2

Six games tonight: 1 upset, 1 totally bonkers barn burner, and 1 rant!

Upsets - 6/2:

1. Section 4: #5 Mahtomedi 18 @ #4 Hill-Murray 11

   1. On May 15, Hill beat Maht 14-13.

   2. No stats as of this writing…really curious to see how this played out. In game one, both teams’ stars showed out - we imagine that someone else stepped in to support Cunnington in this win.

Other Notable Games - 6/2:

1. Section 2: #5 Chaska 22 @ #4 Orono 24

   1. What. The. Hell.

   2. Trying to find this game to a video of this game.

   3. Chaska already has the stats entered. Get a load of this:

      1. Josie Lakosky: 10 goals, 5 assists, 29 Shots on Goal

      2. Kamryn Rennick: 28 goals against…but finished with a 53.8 save percentage! She SAVED 28 shots!!!!

      3. Team: 62 total shots on goal.

      4. Now…even if they counted all shots as on goal (instead of wide ones being…wide), its STILL crazy!

      5. No one wanted to play defense…at all. Wild. Totally wild. Must have been fricking awesome to watch.

2. Section 2: #7 SWC/J/ML 6 @ #2 Eden Prairie 21

   1. The show ends for SWC - another season with quite the ride.

   2. Real take here…

      1. SWC was seeded exactly where they should have been. The bit has been fun, but they’re right where they should have been,

      2. We’e said this many times before…this is the EXACT reason that there needs to be a second class in lacrosse. Having SWC go 12-1, lose a 1 goal game to Hutch…only to maximize themselves to lose by 15 in sections is quite honestly a disservice to the kids playing. Wake up MSHSL. You’ve taken a pretty harsh blow this week. You back pedaled as poorly as one could, but EVENTUALLY you tripped over yourself, got it right to spite yourselves and let the kids in Cambridge-Isanti participate in track. Will you learn? Hell no, you’re not collectively smart enough to learn! Your “Media Specialist” is a joke. The MSHSL righteousness is getting repulsive. Please stop pretending you care about kids and the sports they play. You’re embarrassing. Do better. Do us all a favor - just try not to fuck up the rest of everyone’s post season - that’s literally the best we all can hope for and all we ask…you not fucking it up. We don’t have a lot of hope and the only thing in lacrosse’s favor is how far off your radar we are. You don’t care about lax and hardly know its even going on. We’re probably lucky your “Media Specialist” only cares about track, football, basketball, stadiums in small towns, and track again.
