Interesting Games May 1st
DTA Nation,
Happy Monday! No better way than to kick off the new week with a couple of barn burner potential games with teams looking to get into, stay, and or move up in the top 10 rankings, according to Lax Hub.
5:30 Slate- Minnetonka (3-2) vs St. Thomas Academy (4-1)
After dropping their first game of the year, STA has been ROLLING. A team that has weapons, depth, and getting some impressive goaltending it is no surprise that STA is working themselves into the conversation. I would imagine they start getting some top 10 votes sooner rather than later, I haven’t seen the updated rankings at the time of this post. Would not be surprised if they are in the top 10 once they are updated.
On the other side of the field, we have Tonka. A team looking for their first “Quality Win” and with a win tonight against STA would get them right back in the conversation. I am not seeing the depth that STA has, however, they have an absolute WEAPON in Ben Shuster. Shuster is going to need to have a NIGHT, the Defense is going to need to be DIALED, and Carroll is going to need to steal a few goals if Tonka wants to win this one.
Prediction: STA in OT. On paper, STA could win this by a lot. However, a Monday night game along with Tonka is desperate for a win will level out the playing field a little bit. Did you watch the bruins game last night? Who doesn’t love some extra free lacrosse?! Give the people some OT lax and start the week out hot!!
7:30 Slate- Eagan (1-2) @ Shakopee (5-1)
Two teams that are in opposite positions currently, and opposite of what you think if you just look at their record. Eagan’s blackjack table is starting to heat up, and when that happens watch out. Shakopee fell victim to the “Trap Game” last week in a road trip up to Moorhead.
Eagan coming off a big win vs Woodbury where Eagan’s style of play overwhelmed the Royals and got them off their gameplan. Those who know the WildCats style of play, it’s just that, WILD. If the dealer is still dealing Eagan blackjacks this week, watch out, they aren’t a team you want to be playing against.
Sabres- Shakopee looking vulnerable after logging a lot of miles and racking up those Delta Sky Mile points. A loss on Thursday up in Moorhead, have they had the chance to re group and get a practice in as a group since Thursday? A Monday turn around after that is tough, gotta flush that game and look forward to this week. If they are able to have a short memory and stick to their gameplan, this is their game and will get them right back on track.
Prediction: I went the “favorite” in OT in the first game, I am going to go with an “upset” in OT in this one. Give me an Eagan WILD win in OT, over 20 goals total in a non defensive battle.
I’ll probably go 0-2 with my picks because I’m clueless,
