Game Day- Routines

DTA Nation,

I know I am extremely late to the party, but I promise, it’s not my fault. I am just a measly assistant coach who runs the box for varsity and podcasts on DTA for the people. But for the Lakers and I, it’s finally game day. Now I know 99% of you don’t care that the Lakers play today, you probably were hoping we were just going to take this season off. Don’t worry, you haven’t gotten rid of us yet.

Since it’s gameday, I had to get back into the “Mode” or whatever you might call it. Coaches do it to. I was a lunatic as a player no matter what the sport. Needed to get the rink/field at a certain time, had my pregame warmup, pregame meal, put all my gear on in the same order with a specific pair of socks and shirt. All of it, I was that guy. As a coach, I don’t have to do as much because there isn’t quite as much physically that I need to do, it’s more of a mental game for me. Especially since I run the sub box, which I take very seriously.

Since you are in the midst of my first game day of the season, this is what I have going for me so far, I will update if needed by the end of the day.

  • Chipotle Salad- You won’t be seeing me going to Subway at all this season, I ventured over to chipotle and got a chicken salad. I think this is going to be a good balance of calories, but since I went salad, still light enough to compete today. Also, I am not going to be hungry at 5:30 in the middle of JV, before the Varsity game even starts.

  • Nitro Coffee- People who know me know this was a game day must last season. I took about a 9 or 10 month hiatus/cleanse/detox from the Nitros this off season. I don’t recommend this to anyone and if they aren’t, they should be illegal in California. I am built different, therefor this is something I can handle and essential to my Game Day Routine.

  • I don’t have a third thing yet, I am open to recommendations. Might have to dial up that new Morgan Wallen playlist and have a little pre game jam on my way to the fields.

Go Lakers,

P-Mac
